A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A VP OPERATIONS  

You will have an exciting “hands-on” and pivotal role in helping to build and grow a cutting- edge new company that is commercializing a technology that will change the way we produce food. In this role, you will develop and execute against commercialization plans that will lead to the first-ever introduction of air-based food into the marketplace. You will be responsible for securing and managing co-packing vendors, flavor houses, and go-to-market contractors. In addition, you will ensure that all plant operations are running smoothly, oversee regulatory approvals, and implement quality control processes. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day operational leadership and management in a way that mirrors our mission

  • Spearhead the implementation of Air Protein’s operational strategy, including plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel to support our short and long-term growth strategies

  • Set comprehensive goals for performance against operational plans, and oversee execution of those plans to achieve goals

  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics. Measure the effectiveness and efficiency of internal and external processes. 

  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating status of the company

  • Build, implement and maintain policies and procedures to help streamline overall productivity that supports a culture of operational excellence

  • Develop supply chain and manage outside contractors as required 

  • Oversees regulatory/QA processes and interacts with the Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory bodies

  • Build and lead a high performing team by attracting, recruiting and retaining A-players; provide mentoring as a cornerstone of a professional development program

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

  • MBA or equivalent degree or work experience

  • Prior experience as a Management Consultant highly desired

  • 8+ years of progressive work experience in operational roles

  • 5+ years of work experience managing CMO’s

  • Prior experience interacting with regulatory agencies

  • Knowledgeable about Quality Assurance regulations and requirements

  • Brings an exceedingly high level of integrity, leadership and teamwork in your interactions with others across all levels of the organization

  • Data-driven approach to creating, assessing and altering processes

  • Ability to execute and negotiate against plans that can rapidly change, with the foresight to develop contingency plans

  • Excellent listener who seeks broad input and provides feedback in order to gain consensus across the organization. Open to criticism and new ideas

  • Passion for building cross-functional teams and developing people 

  • Successful experience in a startup environment

  • Demonstrably strong project management skills

  • Fits with Air Protein’s culture and mission
