Our first XPRIZE, the $10 million Ansari XPRIZE for private spaceflight, spurred an industry and created exponential breakthroughs. Since then we have provided over $140 million in incentives through these competitions. Each prize has created an industry-changing technology that brings us closer to a better, safer, more sustainable world.   

The use of incentive competitions, or prizes, to accelerate innovation goes back over 300 years, to when the British Admiralty launched the Longitude Prize in 1714 to find a better way to navigate our seas. In the years since, several well-known innovations have resulted from incentive competitions, including canning as a form of food preservation (a competition launched by Napoleon in 1795), modern plastics (the Billiard Ball Prize, 1863) and commercial aviation (the Orteig Prize, 1919).

Role Description

The Community Manager will be the hands-on owner of the XPRIZE digital platforms and responsible for the complete day-to-day execution, analysis, and optimization of the editorial calendar.


  • Overseeing and executing social and community editorial calendars across digital channels, including Social, YouTube, Podcasts, Email and Blog
  • Working with Digital and PR team to develop highly engaging social content for various campaigns, and ensuring all programming is cohesive across all channels
  • Partnering with agencies and internal creative team (graphic design, web, video production) to develop and produce content across various platforms
  • Creating lightweight social content, including writing post copy for social channels, responding to comments on owned channels, producing simple imagery using existing templates, engaging with other relevant brands/influencer channels, and live-posting from brand events/experiences
  • Weekly analysis of social & community KPI’s with recommendations on areas for course correction, as well as acting as lead advisor on the tools we need for the monitoring and execution of digital strategy
  • Identifying key social influencers, bloggers, networks, and forums, according to our verticals and marketing objectives, with whom we should build ongoing partnerships and engagement


  • 2-4 years' experience in social media and/or community management at an agency or brand
  • Expertise in overseeing a multi-platform content stream
  • Experience with content publishing, social listening, and analytics tools 
  • Keen sense of digital storytelling and writing ability
  • Able to work with agencies across multiple simultaneous campaigns
  • Demonstrated experience nurturing and growing a fan base
  • Hands-on working style, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team member who takes initiative with a positive, can-do attitude
