One Concern Japan is a small and growing team that has a startup mentality and is the frontline for One Concern’s efforts in Japan. Japan is a strong market for One Concern, and as a Data Acquisition Manager you will be one of the key early members of this team reporting directly to the Japan Country Manager. 
One Concern is seeking an individual to develop data provider partnership relationships with both public sectors and private sectors in Japan in order to optimize data acquisition/collection processes at One Concern. You will communicate and foster key relationships with various data providers and customers as well as your colleagues and stakeholders to build processes to collect necessary data sets required for building Artificial Intelligence models.


  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain the details of various data sets to people from other fields
  • 1-3 years of customer-facing experience with multi-national company

  • Understand the details of necessary data sets and be able to explain to data partners and customers
  • Develop data provider partnerships with both public sectors and private sectors 
  • Build strong links with the academic world to explore collaborations with academics and researchers
  • Work with internal Data Scientists at Headquarters to develop necessary data catalogs and manage them in a timely manner
  • Build processes for ingesting data into the internal AI system by communicating with data providers and the internal data acquisition team
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and PostGIS databases required
  • Regularly collaborate with the Global Data Team on the progress of data partnerships 

Bonus Points

  • Experience in data analytics using software applications such as SAS and Tableau
  • Knowledge and/or experience in geographic information system (GIS), Remote Sensing, or IoT technologies
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience in disaster management
