Battery Lab Intern (Part-time)

Location: Berkeley, CA

Term: Spring & Summer 2020

Brief: Paid, 10-20 hours per week

Our team is comprised of PhD scientists, expert data professionals, and battery industry veterans, all passionate about enabling the transition to a battery-powered world.


We are looking for an outstanding student in Engineering or Physical Sciences to help set up and manage the daily operations of our battery lab, starting Fall 2020. You’ll get to work directly with our world class Applications Engineers to set up the battery lab to generate high quality test data for the following purposes:

  • Test integration with a variety of test equipment vendors
  • Generate high quality test data for our data importer team
  • Create data sets for Voltaiq software demonstrations and to create interesting blog post content

You will need to have strict attention to detail and will gain experience working safely with battery cells and with a wide variety of battery testing equipment. Ideally, the candidate will have cell testing experience in a lab setting as well as electrical hardware troubleshooting skills.


General Responsibilities:

  • Install new battery test equipment and add to Voltaiq network
  • Design and execute test plans to gather battery test data 
  • Maintain and execute tests using specialized test equipment
  • Lab maintenance such as organization of cell samples, equipment checks and troubleshooting
  • Write blog posts on generated data sets
  • Complete other duties as assigned / support cross functional teams


  • Currently pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field with focus on Energy Systems
  • Experience with battery testing and data analysis is a plus
  • Good written communication skills
