Activate partners with funders and leading research institutions to support top scientists and engineers through an innovative entrepreneurial research fellowship program. Since 2016, Activate has supported more than 50 entrepreneurial research fellows at Cyclotron Road, a program of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In 2019, Activate launched a second fellowship site, and now supports fellows in both Boston and Berkeley. The two-year fellowship program provides funding, access to world-class research facilities, entrepreneurial mentorship, networking, and education. Activate has helped fellows transform their research into technology products that can address society’s most urgent needs. These fellows have developed transformative energy, climate, manufacturing, and microelectronics technologies, resulting in more than 40 new companies that have collectively raised more than $150 million in follow-on funding.
The Fellowship Manager will be responsible for the operational and program management of fellowships in Berkeley. The Fellowship Manager will oversee local customization and execution of key fellowship elements including fellow selection, educational programming, fellowship operations, and evaluation. This person plays a key role on the Berkeley site team to shape and execute the fellowship program, and support the individual fellows as they work toward climate impact.
