Job Description

In this role you will assist in designing, implementing, and testing hardware circuits for switch mode power supply and battery management system applications. The dc-dc and dc-ac converters to be designed and tested are in the 50W to 20kW range. Candidates should be passionate about hardware and software integration of electronics, and even more passionate about creating a more sustainable future. We are looking for highly motivated self-starters comfortable in an early stage company environment. You would work with and report directly to our CEO as part of the engineering team

  • Design, setup, and test printed circuit boards given, while documenting methodologies
  • Soldering and debugging printed circuit boards
  • Work with engineering team to set up, conduct, and document experiments
  • Find solutions to complex issues and quickly test assumptions on the fly in a fast-paced environment
  • Build a cleaner future with unprecedented battery data and analysis that will maximize the value of every battery
  • Ability to commit minimum 20 hours a week from February to June 2020
Minimum Qualifications
  • Junior or Senior on track for Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or similar field
  • Hardware test and debugging using DMM, Oscilloscopes, Power Analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture/PCB layout software
  • Knowledge of git repositories and git flow
  • Experience or knowledge of at least three (3) of the following:
    • Circuit analysis and simulation using LTSpice or equivalent
    • Mixed signal analysis and signal processing, analysis of analog and digital signals using oscilloscope and other circuit debugging tools
    • Knowledge of FPGAs, CPLDs using Verilog or VHDL for Xilinx or equivalent
    • Embedded systems with C for PIC32, Python, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or equivalent
    • Strong hardware foundation to understand and select ICs, passive components, and power semiconductors (MOSFETs, BJTs, IGBTs, Diodes) for designs and tests.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Technical writing and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering (BSEE) or similar field
  • Basic background in data science to build data flows to validate hypotheses
  • Data analysis using MATLAB/Python/R
  • Power electronics topologies, control methodologies, and control loop analysis
  • Thermal analysis and thermal management for switching converters
  • Experience with battery management systems and battery modeling
  • Experience with GaN and SiC transistors and diodes
  • Experience with ISO, IEEE, or UL standards and certification testing procedures
