Job Summary

May Mobility is entering an exciting phase of international growth where we are expanding the functional capabilities of our vehicles, growing the fleet, and training attendants to operate vehicles with customers in cars. This Product Trainer role will report directly to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for training Drivers in Japan.  This is a temporary position, training will begin in Ann Arbor, MI immediately.  The position will tentatively be in Japan 10/1/2020-3/5/2021.

Job Responsibilities

  • Translate all existing training documents into Japanese
  • Learn how to operate the May Mobility shuttle both manually and autonomously
  • Gain thorough understanding of autonomous system in order to effectively communicate to others how the system works
  • Embody May’s safety culture - absolutely nothing comes before safety
  • Conduct all Driver training in Japan (including scheduling, conducting training, administering evaluations, record keeping, etc.)
  • Supervise Drivers during the training period and make recommendations to Site Leadership regarding driver ability to operate the vehicle effectively
  • Help maintain the day-to-day operability of the vehicles
  • Make suggestions on how to improve process for international training
  • Check and inspect mechanical condition of vehicles daily

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in Japanese
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical team members
  • Comfortable presenting and articulating concepts in front of small- to medium-sized audiences
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for at least 3 years
  • Comfortable with driving research vehicles
  • Methodical and process-oriented
  • Organized and able to document daily summaries
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Ability to follow traffic safety procedures and safe driving practices
  • Ability to travel to Japan

Desirable Qualifications

  • Exposure to autonomous vehicle or robotics industry
  • Previous training experience
