How we are protecting employees from COVID-19
At Imperfect Foods, employee health and safety is our top priority. We have implemented processes and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. We provide gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer to all essential employees who must report to work. Before entering our warehouse, employees have their temperatures checked. In addition, we take great care to ensure frequently touched surfaces are sanitized throughout the day and all warehouses are fully sanitized weekly.
We have also implemented an Emergency Sick Leave policy providing full-time and part-time employees 2 additional weeks of paid time off and up to 26 weeks paid leave if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19.
About the Role:
Imperfect Foods is seeking a VP of People to direct and determine our People Team’s goals and strategies to best support our nationwide business operation. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and focus to advance Imperfect’s mission while maintaining and continuously improving Imperfect’s reputation as a 'great place to work.' The VP of People  will strategically apply their deep industry expertise to improve our systems as the company continues to scale, while also prioritizing building a well rounded and trusted People department.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage the People Team in functional areas such as: Talent Management, Employee Engagement, Learning & Development, Total Compensation, and Talent Acquisition. Evaluate departmental performance regularly
  • Help enhance our Talent Acquisition process from job description creation, all the way through employee onboarding
  • Develop and drive coaching and support programs for all levels of management, focusing on leadership development and conflict management and resolution
  • Partner with managers and key stakeholders in performance management. Provide support, guidance & best practices for day to day performance management issues, including coaching, counseling and disciplinary actions
  • Identify workplace trends. Develop and implement management training programs around key employee relations opportunities
  • Build frameworks for career progression and professional development
  • Serve as a co-strategist to the C-Suite on all major initiatives, helping to shape company policies and strategies, ensuring the consideration of people and company culture
  • Culture and Communications:
  • Develop innovative strategies to assess employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Evaluate employee engagement needs and implement actionable plans to continually improve engagement and satisfaction levels
  • Establish departmental accountabilities including, but not limited to: succession planning, employee relations and retention
  • Work with organizational leaders in key areas such as workforce planning and development, and diversity, inclusion and belonging
  • Compliance, Compensation and Total Rewards:
  • Develop and implement People strategies around total compensation and benefits in order to remain competitive with local markets
  • Mange and approve People Team expenses 
  • Develop, implement and revise HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local legislation
  • Work closely with the Total Rewards team to ensure accurate payroll processing

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of HR experience with at least 3 years of HR Senior Leadership experience
  • 2+ years of experience supporting People and Culture in a warehouse environment
  • Sound leadership, management, and team-building skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a high degree of personal credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and foster teamwork
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment; tenure in a start-up or high growth organization of 1000+ employees is a huge plus
  • BA degree in Human Resources and HR Certification (PHR/SPHR) required
  • MA or other advanced degree in organizational development, organizational effectiveness or related field is a plus

Details of the Position:

  • Full-time exempt position reporting to the Chief Experience Officer
  • Position based out of our San Francisco, Chicago, or Tucson facility
  • Salary and employee stock options commensurate with experience

  • Domestic travel to new and existing facilities required as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work; involves sitting most of the time
  • Occasional movement around the office may be necessary
