Job Description

We are looking for an EASTERN REGIONAL SALES MANAGER who is driven and passionate about helping build an established but growing, world-changing, multi-million dollar sustainable products company.  We are looking for all-around stars that crave the entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of mission in their work. This remote, dynamic position is the sales hub of the east coast, and perfect for a detail-oriented person who wants to be a part of changing the world one cup at a time. The role has two main responsibilities: Sales and Broker/Distributor Management in the Conventional Grocery and Natural Channels. While a remote position, this person will effectively collaborate with all team members to further our goals and mission. This person reports directly to the Sales Director.

Responsibilities:

  • This is a full-time, remote, East Coast based position. 
  • Advance the development and sales growth across customers in the Eastern Region 
  • Create and achieve sales targets, new item launch goals, and seize growth opportunities 
  • Manage and lead relationships with brokers, distributors and customers to achieve department goals
  • Develop, manage, train, motivate and support a broker network, including creating sales plans, setting goals and standards, and performing reviews
  • Manage budget and promotional calendar for established book of business, ensuring continual sales and profitable growth
  • Maintain continual awareness of trends, category changes, and the competitive environment
  • Maintain and expand customer base by building and maintaining relationships with key customers and distributors
  • Identify new customer opportunities 
  • Assist in managing quarterly/annual sales planning
  • Expand product distribution with new and existing conventional and natural grocery customers
  • Execute regular headquarter calls (including cold calls) to new accounts
  • Understand the philosophy, objections, priority SKUs, selling points, competitive advantages, merchandising standards, and what tools are available to help sell our brand and products
  • Attend regional and national trade shows to present our products and represent the brand
  • Manage travel and other expenses as budgeted, submit expense reports in a timely manner

Required Skills: 

  • Demonstrated experience calling on grocery accounts and key natural food retailers
  • Self-starter, an entrepreneurial mindset, excel in an autonomous environment
  • Prior broker management experience
  • Strong knowledge of distributor networks (UNFI, KeHe, etc)
  • Candidate must be in the Eastern Region
  • Established contacts and relationships in the region a strong preference
  • Attend sales calls, field visits, trainings, trade shows, and events as necessary (including some weekends)
  • Working knowledge of third-party data (Nielsen, SPINS, etc.)
  • A high level of motivation with a strong work ethic 
  • Effective interpersonal skills and a positive outlook 
  • A "can do/do whatever it takes to get the job done" attitude 
  • Outstanding organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills 
  • Ability to manage time and deadlines independently
  • Collaborative team player
  • Ability to prospect, develop, make presentations, and close sales
  • High degree of experience in sales planning, forecasting, budgeting
  • Experience in customer relationship management
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), G-suite
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
