Location: The role can be based anywhere in the UK, with some travel to OVO offices

Working as part of the People Transforming team, this role will own, shape and deliver all inclusion and diversity activities under the umbrella of ‘Belonging’ across the OVO Group. Internal and externally networked, this role will bring outside thinking in and ensure the voice of our people is heard to ensure we are a progressive, inclusive employer of choice and our colleagues can bring their whole selves to OVO.  

 

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities include:

Developing a truly inclusive workplace: Review the journey so far and design, develop, implement and deliver an I&D strategy, reflected throughout our internal culture, helping identify our employee experience journey and shaping our ‘moments that matter’, setting the tone and approach so that our environment becomes defined by inclusivity. 

As the go to person, working across the People Team and business areas, you’ll also influence how we communicate and apply this externally through every brand messaging and touch points with our services.

 

Leadership engagement & stakeholder management: Use expertise & the latest research insights to guide & influence leaders & their talent strategies. Be influential & persuasive in aligning the I&D & People strategy with business-critical goals & Plan Zero.

Facilitate internal networking community and chair regular SteerCo’s. Working across community lines to build trust, consensus and supporting difficult but meaningful conversations.

 

Policies & policy integration: Ensure all policies sufficiently incorporate principles and an I&D lens. Regularly review policies to ensure they’re relevant & represent leading practice where possible. Identify opportunities to go beyond the ‘norm’ and look for policy innovation. 

 

Education: Develop (and identify external training partners & support) and facilitate training to help colleagues embrace and understand differing perspectives.

Provide inspiration and action on I&D and social justice, including spearheading specific mentoring / development for marginalised groups. 

 

Data & reporting: Shape our measures of success and the key KPI’s we should measure and aspire to improve. Develop and deliver quarterly reporting across the OVO Group (using appropriate tools) which includes insight and opportunities for improving inclusion with solutions.

Maximise colleague insight through Peakon engagement survey & facilitate surveys and/or focus groups. Conduct external benchmarking and support reporting requirements (gender pay and race reporting).

 

Comms & colleague engagement: Become a visible and inspiring I&D educator and champion, communicating regularly to the company on all things related to I&D.

Drive events, bringing in expert speakers and internal speakers to improve education and awareness. Develop strong relationships with OVO’s networking groups.

 

External: Build relationships across the business community to bring new thinking into OVO, including building and nurturing 3rd party partnerships.

Represent the OVO Group in external forums and networks, supporting the publication of pledges and updates.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • A passion for people and a true belief in the value of I&D for a business’ success, with the ability to role model positive behaviours in relation to I&D. Bringing extensive experience in driving change, in either a professional or significant voluntary capacity in diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience in developing and project managing I&D strategies into a business structure consisting of multiple brands. Expertise and connection within diverse communities.
  • High integrity, with strong communication and active listening skills - you won’t be afraid to speak the truth in order to power and galvanise others to drive change. You’ll have an ability to break down barriers and get people on board with the business strategic direction while  maintaining diplomacy - as people have many different views about diversity.
  • Strong relationship building skills (most of our work is done through collaboration),  a natural networker, with great listening influencing multiple and varied stakeholders at various levels across OVO.
