Since 2015 Activate has partnered with leading funders and research institutions to support nearly 100 entrepreneurial fellows working on transformative climate, energy, manufacturing and microelectronics technologies. Activate fellows have launched over 50 startups that have set world records, defined new market categories, and raised over $150M in development funding. Activate supports fellows in Berkeley, CA and Cambridge, MA, with plans to expand to additional locations.


The Partnership Manager will be responsible for driving valuable collisions between Activate Fellows and a wide diversity of partners including corporate contacts, investors, advisors, and service providers.

 The Partnership Manager will work closely with the fellows and the Boston team to cultivate an impactful network of experts, influencers and commercial partners and draw appropriate connections especially in the microelectronics, semiconductor sectors. In addition to managing the local network, the Partnership Manager will be responsible for managing communication and interactions with the wide variety of visitors and guests of the Boston site. 

The Boston Partnership Manager will be hired as a full­ time employee of Activate with competitive salary and full benefits. The Partnership Manager will report to the President and work closely with the Managing Director at the Boston site. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive day-to-day interactions with industry partners, investors, and sponsors, including coordination of site visits, update calls, new partner acquisition and general outreach activities.

  • Catalyze engagement and collaboration between our fellows and industry and financial partners especially those interested in microelectronics, semiconductors, and national security. 

  • Identify new opportunities for mutually valuable modes of engagement between our fellows and our partners.

  • Develop marketing content needed to recruit new partners and keep current partners informed and engaged.

  • Monitor and report on technology, industry and investment trends.

  • Build awareness of Activate within the community.

  • Harness and analyze data to communicate the impact of Boston program and inform strategic growth.

  • Represent Activate at industry events and other public forums.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has 3 - 5 years of business development and corporate development experience especially in the fields of semiconductors and microelectronics. 

  • Has the ability to understand and communicate technology driven innovations. 

  • Has a rolodex of contacts at semiconductor and defense related corporations. 

  • Has a track record of contributing to technology product development and/or sales.

  • Has working knowledge of Boston’s innovation ecosystem.

  • Familiar with early stage investment and financing ecosystem. 

  • Has exceptional communication and relationship building skills. 

  • Feels like the world's scientific and entrepreneurial talent should be focused on more serious pursuits than dog-walking apps.

  • Understands that innovation starts with people, not ideas.
