Job Description

About Nautilus.

Nautilus is building artificial intelligence to advance the efficiency of ocean commerce. We deliver technology to help shipping companies minimize fuel consumption, maximize operational efficiency, and optimize fleet performance. By arming ship owners and operators with real-time predictive decision support, Nautilus is reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making global trade sustainable.

Ocean shipping consumes over $100 billion dollars of fuel every year, and up to 30% of it can be saved. For owner-operators, reliance on manually collected and analyzed data makes it difficult to optimize fleet performance in real-time. By providing a unified data platform that leverages machine learning, Nautilus helps its clients make better decisions to maximize the return on each ship and every voyage. For our clients, this means they drive closer collaboration, greater transparency, and stronger accountability across their global teams every day.

About you.

Nautilus Labs is looking for an ambitious and metrics-driven professional with sound business acumen and natural sales instincts to join our sales team. You’ll initiate conversations and source opportunities for Nautilus, exploring ways we can drive business transformation across large maritime shipping organizations. You’ll specialize in identifying and engaging with high-quality prospects by phone or email, leveraging new content and thought leadership pieces to pique interest, researching Nautilus’s target market, and create custom messaging to highlight the value Nautilus can have on each prospect’s unique business.

You’ll be responsible for building a pipeline of conversations with an array of maritime executives, operators and/or vessel performance experts, learning about their work flows and vision for optimizing efficiency in partnership with our Client Executive team, who will serve as the primary points of contact for each opportunity. You will work in partnership with each Client Executive in order to manage their book of business and convert prospects into clients. You’ll support territory management activities, including outreach, scheduling, stakeholder management, technical sales validation, and proposal generation, as determined with the Client Executive team.

Outcomes for this role:

  • Prospect and engage maritime leaders and performance experts leveraging strategic, value-add messaging, in a fast-paced environment
  • Serve as the face of Nautilus Labs for all outbound sales communications
  • Attend industry events to increase Nautilus Labs’ brand awareness
  • Strategize for, build and manage all top of funnel sales activity prior to initial meeting, leveraging outbound sales software, including Salesforce and Outreach to set and achieve aggressive quarterly targets
  • Determine if prospective clients are a fit and facilitate a smooth transition through the sales process and into post-sales Client Success
  • Support opportunity progression activities throughout the funnel to drive conversion and closed-won deals
  • Develop top performer sales skills and learn methodologies for success with ongoing dedicated trainings

  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in externally-oriented roles; or
  • 2+ years of shoreside commercial or operational ocean shipping experience; or
  • 1+ year of BDR/SDR experience working in a venture-backed SaaS business

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Persistent and metrics-driven execution
  • The ability to triage competing priorities and excellent time management skills
  • A resilient team player with a positive attitude
  • Comfortable with working remotely and able to achieve success while doing so
  • Track record of over-achieving business goals, prospecting targets, and KPIs
  • A strong desire to grow your career in sales
