Staff Software Engineer, Planning Simulation

What you’ll be doing:

  • Help design and implement our simulator, which will test our autonomous stack virtually and increase the quality and scenarios the stack is exposed to
  • Work closely with vehicle engineering to enable real time vehicle communication and feedback
  • Help to optimize the performance of the simulator
  • Interact with our QA & Autonomous Vehicle engineers to implement new features and improve the usability of our simulator
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment where immediate impact is a result of your efforts and where your contribution is highly visible

What you must have:

  • You have a BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related technical field.
  • You have excellent modern C++ coding abilities, with strong system fundamentals.
  • You have the propensity for shipping products, ideally commercially available software and tendency to automate and unit testing everything with an understanding of networking and multithreading.
  • You have experience in designing, coding, integrating, and debugging C++ software such as in;
    • An environment that develops a complex multithreaded product.
    • Latency and performance constrained environments (e.g. video games, high frequency trading).
    • Building applications that run on real-time operating systems.
    • Developing for POSIX compliant operating systems i.e. Linux, ROS, OS X, and/or related paradigms.

Bonus points!

  • Experience with ROS.
  • Designing software applications for safety critical systems.
  • Open to learning a variety of languages (we use C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Node.js).
  • Exceptional ability to write clean, fast, reliable and highly scalable software.
