Nexamp is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to perform engineering and project support tasks for commercial and utility scale photovoltaic systems.

  • This position reports to the Manager, Design Engineering and will manage 1-2 junior engineers within the design engineering department
  • Provide technical support to Nexamp development, engineering, procurement, construction, and O&M departments for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases.
  • Perform site visits for project assessment and feasibility
  • Create drawings sets for development, permitting, construction, and record design phases for solar power plants utilizing AutoCAD and Helios 3D Solar Park Planning software with engineering oversight
  • Develop and manage relationships with a network of vendors and engineering consultants for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases with engineering oversight
  • Create energy models for solar power plants utilizing Helioscope and PVSYST software
  • Support utility interconnection and permitting application processes
  • Support training of engineering department personnel and development of design drawing libraries
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed




Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, results-oriented, and operate well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.  The candidate should be prepared for increased responsibility in a rapidly growing company.

  • Degree in engineering or equivalent educational/certification background
  • 2+ years of solar design engineering experience
  • AutoCAD software proficiency
  • PVSYST software proficiency
  • Helios 3D Solar Park Planning software proficiency preferred
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
  • Knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles
  • Knowledge of medium voltage distribution and protection systems preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to supervise a junior engineer as well as work independently
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
  • NABCEP Entry Level certification or equivalent preferred
