The Role

At Span, we are building products that enable the rapid adoption of renewable energy. As more distributed energy resources like solar and storage come onto the grid, it’s increasingly important to improve the technology that sits between the grid, the home, and those distributed energy resources. Span’s smart panel replaces the electrical panel to become the center for connected power in the home.  With Span, homeowners receive all the safety features of a standard panel with revolutionary insights and edge-of-grid controls through our mobile app.

We’ve developed a breakthrough product for residential solar + storage customers, have seen strong initial market traction, and are looking to rapidly grow revenue by expanding our Sales & Business Development team. Span is seeking a VP of Sales to lead exponential revenue growth, hire top sales talent, help open new channels, and create and own relationships with multiple large customers who have expressed interest in our products and services.

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Rapidly expand Span’s existing sales channels, delivering 10X+ growth year over year
  • Manage and build the Span sales team, recruiting top sales talent, developing our existing team, and creating a strong sales culture
  • Create and build on sales relationships with major resellers and partners, owning major relationships from prospecting through sale and delivery of Span systems, acting as a player-coach as the team expands
  • Plan and forecast sales revenue, creating and delivering upon high-growth, accurate forecasts
  • Track and set sales and margin targets for the team
  • Oversee key sales operations activities including the close of new business, onboarding and training, and successful partner activation and sales process
  • Provide key inputs from the field including, market intelligence, product and service feedback, partner input on products, and market trends
  • Team player who is simultaneously part of our executive leadership and working on the ground alongside our front line team
  • Work with BD team to prioritize opportunities and develop go-to-market / market entry strategies

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience and 8+ years of additional sales management experience
  • Experience managing sales at a quickly-growing companies with a track record of delivering hyper growth with new products
  • Ability to quickly form strong external and cross-functional relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past experience in managing a sales organization in excess of $100 million
  • Sales management experience in solar, hardware, or clean energy
  • Existing relationships with solar providers, electrical distributors, homebuilders, and utilities
