Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

Our core energy business drives OVO’s growth, and our Marketing Automation Team supports this growth by ensuring we have a deep understanding of, and long-term meaningful engagement with our diverse customer base.

As a Marketing Automation Data Manager you’ll work in a cross-functional matrixed team of data experts to enable and analyse manage exciting, engaging, relevant customer journeys.  Your focus may be on successful building data solutions needed to execute our campaigns, integrating data into our Martch stack, or building solutions to analyse the impact of our campaign output; but regardless of focus the fundamentals will be the same - you’ll deliver iterative improvements to our data-led capabilities in order to drive both commercial KPIs and customer-centric engagement metrics

Based around an Agile development process, you will support a culture of continuous change - building relationships with data peers across the business, integrating business requirements briefs, proposing and discussing solutions with end user teams, building powerful and accurate data solutions, and mining data for insights; you will ensure we are continuously looking to be more effective.

In addition, you’ll also help develop our marketing capabilities - inputting into martech strategies, and journey strategies so we can better understand and engage our customers.

This team is responsible for ensuring delivery of our customer communications through Salesforce Marketing Cloud - ultimately you will be responsible for delivering the data from Ovo’s data platform to the tool, and vice versa, ensuring we have highly relevant contact plans and customer journeys AND for the accurate measurement of the impact of these journeys.

You will make iterative improvements to these data processes to ensure they are  automated, integrated across tools, connected across channel and as close to real time as possible, and also critically ensuring they are 100% accurate, secure, and adhere to all necessary legislation

What will I be doing?

On a day-to-day basis you will be:

  • Owning the data strategy to drive pre-agreed customer journey objectives - predominantly focus will be integrating the required data into Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and in building the reporting suite of the communications we send to our customers.
  • Working with key Marketing Automation, commercial, data availability and product stakeholders to agree and prioritise the data goals that support the Marketing Automation team strategies and objectives, 
  • Liaise with various marketing and product stakeholders on campaign requirements - interrogating and understand their needs to be able to clearly identify the underlying data required to support them
  • Review current data queries and data flows to Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and ensuring daily updates happen as required (queries and processes from our data to SFMC already in place, but need monitoring and maintaining)
  • Research our data to identify the correct tables / location of our data first business need - many queries already exist and can be repeated or refreshed, if not the person will to proactively reach out to data practitioners across the business to identify whats needed
  • Build the appropriate queries needed to support the business requirements - almost entirely through through Big Query in the short term, but migrating to Kafka in the mid to longer term
  • Where stand alone data is supplied for a campaign, prevent need for future stand alone supply of that data, either amending existing data flows into Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or creating new data flows and adding to the sftp
  • Review existing reporting queries against business requirements, and ultimately support a test and learn culture by building automated solutions to report on the the engagement and conversation rates of our campaign output
  • Ensure the long term impact on our output is understood by developing a unified customer view of all out communications output, and a unified view of our customer engagements with our comms, products and features and platforms
  • Work with Commercial and Marketing Managers across the business to ensure the reporting solutions you will build (the above campaigns and customer analytics) aligned directly with commercial and financial reporting metrics
  • Work with our Data Science teams to build out accurate and powerful Marketing Mix Modelling type solutions to deliver powerful and accurate ROI measurements of all that Ovo communicate to customers

Is this the job for me? 

  • Come from a data-led marketing background where you have led programmes of data and analytics developments
  • Strong SQL skills are a must, python would be a huge bonus
  • Experience of building integrations to SFMC (or other Martech solutions) using SFTP and API integrations
  • Experience building powerful performance reporting suites, using Tableau or Power BI
  • Can demonstrate experience of managing multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast paced competitive environment.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to review and improve data processes, not just 
  • output.
  • Have an understanding of the data and technology requirements needed to deliver connected, automated, relevant, timely customer experiences across all our touch points
  • Are outcome rather than delivery-focussed - able to ‘tell the story’ between your actions and business impact
