Indigo is working to harness nature to sustainably feed the planet.  We have discovered a transformational opportunity to improve global crop yield and reduce the use of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers by utilizing the core microbiome inside plants to confer material yield and crop protection benefits across a variety of crops, geographies and stresses.  The challenge and opportunity for Indigo is to gain critical first mover advantages by scaling quickly and effectively (~$1B 2020 revenue.)

The Buyer Account Manager role is responsible for building relationships with Indigo Ag's Buyer customers and being a trusted and relied upon partner, guiding the Buyers through the Indigo Marketplace transactions process. This position will be heavily focused on  successfully onboarding new buyers into Indigo's grain Marketplace, capturing buyer data/information, managing buyer bids within Indigo Marketplace, scheduling deliveries with buyers, securing settlement and payments from buyers, and ensuring grain is delivered efficiently and correctly. 

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with assigned accounts to identify and expand strategic partnerships

  • Develop deep relationships throughout the buyer organization and become a trusted resource
  • Set and meet customer expectations for fast responses to all questions within the same day they are asked
  • Assist buyers in benefitting from additional services of Indigo’s business offerings as needed to grow revenue
  • Provide ongoing training and support for all Indigo products
  • Coordinate with internal Indigo teams to provide support and solutions as needed to make sure that the customers are fully supported
  • Onboarding new buyers into Indigo’s grain Marketplace
  • Providing buyer-focused feedback on potential new products and marketplace features
  • Keeping buyers informed of Indigo’s full value proposition and helping them get the most value out of our offering
  • Capturing buyer data (e.g. settlement schedule, payment terms, etc) to ensure all information is available for proper transaction execution
  • Managing buyer bids within Indigo Marketplace and ensuring buyer pricing is properly shown in Marketplace (day-to-day bid maintenance will be handled by a separate team)
  • Managing Indigo’s net contract position with each buyer and ensuring we seamlessly deliver against our commitments
  • Scheduling deliveries with buyers
  • Communicating with the Fulfillment team to ensure grain is delivered efficiently and correctly
  • Securing settlement statements and payment from buyers

  •  Able to develop strategic plan to execute transactions in Marketplace
  •  Comfortable with software tools as part of their everyday job (marketplace, salesforce, etc.)
  •  Sees the opportunity to change the world and create the platform of the future with this business  

Key Qualifications for Buyer Account Manager

  •  3+ years experience in Grain Merchandising, Grain Accounting, Logistics, Account Management 
  •  Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  •  Experience in the agricultural industry preferred
  •  Some technical experience, or familiarity with CRM systems
  •  Understanding of Grain Markets, Pricing Tools, Settlements, Contracts and other
