GIS Mapping/Google Earth Engine Data Scientist for Earthshot Labs Data-Driven Planetary Regeneration

Job Description

Hi! We're looking for another GIS mapping and data scientist to prototype a set of tools for planetary-scale regeneration. We're using google earth engine to overlay datasets (climate, terrain, political, etc) to derive insights about regenerative and investment opportunities and to scale permaculture-style restoration.

Project Specifics: "Project Beaver" Our next iteration will include an algorithm for determining where to build water restoration terraforming: i.e. swales and ponds/reservoirs. This will be based on permaculture principles extrapolated to global datasets including rainfall, soil type/percolation, evaporation, terrain/watershed definition, etc.

Earthshot Labs is a new project. We're hacking together data tools for the next couple months with collaborators that we want to get to know and see if it's a good fit for a longer-term team. The company will focus on data tools, while we'll be raising a fund for direct project implementation in 2021.

If you are up for a deeply supportive, collaborative climate and ecological project, send us a note! Also, feel free to join our slack channel where we are bringing together investors, entrepreneurs, technologists, and anyone excited to learn more about nature-based investing and large-scale land regeneration.
